I do continue to hear from Teddy's family once in a while. He continues to be enjoying his life and family. His teenage family member recently sent an email sharing...Teddy seems to have a little stubborn streak at times, but this young lady is successful in getting him to do what is needed. Funny-border collie humor? She says he is very much a part of them and is a wonderful dog (so lucky Teddy!)
If I get an updated pic I post!

Teddy is wonderful!
Just a quick update...I periodically hear from Teddy's family and it's as if he has been with them all along. He is such a part of them and so loved! As the weather turns warmer and I look to the mountain in our back yard where Teddy used to appear, I often think "what if.." I can still see him sitting and watching me from afar. The best was when he playfully tossed his empty plate when I was attempting to entice him into the humane trap-he was on to me. I don't worry now because I know he is safe and loved. I truly believe it was his time to be rescued and by God's grace and guidance, it all worked out.
Teddy is well!

Merry Christmas
Here is Teddy's Christmas photo sent by his family. We are all thankful that our friend has a loving home for Christmas and always.
After visiting the shelter on Christmas Eve, donating as is our tradition, it was easy to see so many are in want and need of homes. So many are not as fortunate as Teddy. It is always a heartbreak to see, but I always remain thankful that there are folks like those at the shelters, dog wardens, cruelty officers, and any who work to help save animals-it is an emotional job, but thankfully they are strong enough to do it.
We've also been helping with some rescue placements from kennel/mill closings in PA-and naturally a lot of the shelters are even becoming more overcrowded. If you know of anyone wanting a special friend, please encourage them to visit a shelter-there are so many in want and need there.
Puppy mill dogs may need a little more tlc and patience in the beginning as their world was very limited once, but they do make wonderful companions and pets once settled in-why not give one a chance?
May the peace of the Christmas season fill your hearts and homes, and may you all have a blessed New Year.

A Very Happy Thanksgiving
I still often check the back yard and mountain, even after all these months. I know he's not there but it's a habit, and something that I think about often. It was such an emotionally and some times physicallly draining four months prior to his rescue-the worry, the searching, the early rising, and the waiting. It is sort of difficult to imagine at this point, that it went on for so long. We were just sooooo lucky to have gotten him at that time. I couldn't imagine knowing he was still running with winter coming again. I smile when I realize he will be warm, well fed, and loved this winter, and hopefully for many years to come.
The two things I am now certain of is that Teddy no longer runs on our mountain and he is no longer running in fear.
His family reports that "his personality has really developed now that he truly feels safe and secure. He especially loves to run around and play with us in the back yard." (Beats the heck out of running AWAY in my back yard )
It will truly be a great Thanksgiving for this guy, a very different one from his past. Just look at his photos-you can see a change!
You go Teddy!

Update on Teddy

Here is Teddy lounging on the young son's bed. Certainly looks comfy, huh? Far cry from sleeping on hard rocks or ground, in the cold and damp. He sure is enjoying life, as he should!
Thanks to the family for the update and pic!

Just look at this beautiful guy...
Teddy's family just sent me this pic of him on the landing in their home. Can you believe anyone who ever said this dog wanted to run and be free on the mountain? I am so happy for him-he finally knows a life of security and love. His family also reported that a little while back they had a dog house guest and the two of them played tug of war in the back yard-they both apparently had a great time!
Wow...Teddy actually gets to be a dog!
I know you all are smiling now. Thank God his (and our ordeal) ended in happy note with his rescue and finding a forever home. So many others....well...you know...

Sharing more of the mountain with Teddy than intended...
Well it’s been quite a while…and it’s been interesting (a nice way of putting it all). My lack of posting was not due to the family not sending updates. Unfortunately Teddy and I have shared more of the mountain than either one of us should have to bear. Just like our Teddy, I was diagnosed with Lyme Disease, and let me tell you the past month has NOT been much fun. But in lieu of the grimy details I’ll just move to sharing some of his updates from the family…
Teddy and his family went on a camping vacation and had a great time. They also discovered that Teddy likes movies as they watched a movie about a dog, and he seemed to enjoy the flick. He reportedly has settled in nicely and is very much a part of the family. They love him AND he loves them-how wonderful after a year on the run! (I do have to ask if they have been treating him for his Lyme Disease, because I wouldn’t want him to feel the way I’ve been feeling.)
(pics provided by his family)
There are a few t-shirts left, please email me if you’re interested. All monies will go to the Hillside SPCA for their “medical and educational” fund in honor of Teddy.

Side Note: I'm sure every animal in every shelter has a story of fear and heartache. Teddy is fortunate in that HIS story can be told. There are so many others whose stories or histories may never be known, but they do have one thing in common...they too need a loving home. If only ALL the others could be as fortunate as Teddy. Please consider adopting. Thank you for all your prayers and support in bringing Teddy back.
